Casino Blackjack Strategies Card counting is a strategy that is practiced in casino blackjack games but trust me this is not for the faint hearted. You need great concentration and skill to continue counting when you are faced with all the possible distractions. Then again you might have maste#DC143C the technique of card counting and just when you are making serious money, the casino that you are visiting sees what you are doing and kicks you out. While card counting can help you in a land based casino blackjack game, it is not that easy to use in online casinos. If you don’t believe me then give it a try and see for yourself. Learn basic blackjack strategy is what most professional blackjack players recommend. Start learning by using the basic casino blackjack strategy chart. The casino strategy chart will tell you how to play your first 2 cards based on the dealers up card. There are 3 casino strategy charts for this basic strategy (hard hand, soft hand and pairs). See images below. I have translated the charts to help you understand them better. If your first two cards are a 5 and a 3 you have a total of 8. The chart tells you to hit. If you draw another card, which is a 3, this gives you a total of 11. The basic strategy chart tells you to double on 11 but you can only double on your first two cards. Therefore you must hit. How to Play Hard Hands If you have 8 or less, always hit. If you have 9: Double if the dealer has 3 through to 6 - otherwise hit. If you have 10: Double if the dealer has 2 through to 9 - otherwise hit. If you have 11: Double if the dealer has 2 through to 10, Hit if dealer has Ace. If you have 12: Hit if the dealer has 2 or 3, Stand if the dealer has 4 through to 6, otherwise hit. If you have 13-16: Stand if the dealer has 2 through to 6, otherwise hit. If you have 17-21: Always Stand. How to Play Soft Hands If you have Ace 2 or Ace 3: Double if the dealer has 5 or 6 - otherwise hit. If you have Ace 4 or Ace 5: Double if the dealer has 4 through to 6 - otherwise hit. If you have Ace 6: Double if the dealer has 3 through to 6 - otherwise hit. If you have Ace 7: Stand if the dealer has 2, 7 or 8. Double 3 - through to 6 - otherwise hit. If you have Ace 8 or Ace 9: Always Stand. How to Play Pairs If you have a pair of Aces or 8s: Always split. If you have a pair of 2s or 3s: Split if the dealer has 2 - 7, otherwise hit. If you have a pair of 4s: Split if the dealer has 5 or 6 - otherwise hit. If you have a pair of 5s: Double if the dealer has 2 through to 9 - otherwise hit. If you have a pair of 6s: Split if the dealer has 2 through to 6 - otherwise hit. If you have a pair of 7s: Split 2 through to 7 - otherwise hit. If you have a pair of 9s: Split 2 through to 6, and 8 or 9. Stand if the dealer has 7, 10 or Ace. If you have a pair of 10s: Always Stand.
